About

I write at the intersection of policy, humanity, and power—breaking down the policies that empower us and the systems that fail us.
Whether I’m analyzing healthcare legislation, writing personal essays, or advocating for public health reform, my work is about turning complexity into clarity, and policy into impact.
When I’m not tearing apart bad policy or writing about the systems that fail us, I’m probably snuggled up with Ellie and Jake—my AmStaff/Pittie mix rescue pups. When they’re not napping, snuggling, or demanding belly rubs, they’re body-slamming each other in the backyard or racing full speed through the house like tiny linebackers with zero regard for furniture placement.
They’re my kids, my emotional support, and the reason I survived some of my darkest days—including getting sober.
I also have a thing for travel—something about stepping into the unfamiliar makes life make more sense. So far, I’ve made it to 20 countries across 3 continents and 34 U.S. states, but if I had to pick a favorite? Sicily. My ancestral homeland, where my family’s roots trace back to Palermo. Maybe it’s the connection to my past, maybe it’s the food, maybe it’s the unapologetic attitude (relatable), but Sicily just feels like home.
And, for all the sharp edges in my writing, I’m deeply close with my family. They’ve shaped me in ways I’m still unraveling, and at the end of the day, no matter how far I travel or how many systems I fight to fix, they’re always home.
What I do
With a background in strategic communication and marketing spanning 15+ years, I spent my career shaping narratives, mobilizing communities, and developing campaigns that drive engagement. Over the last two years, I’ve pivoted into policy analysis, public health advocacy, and strategic messaging for healthcare reform—focusing on:
-
HIV & LGBTQ+ Health Policy – Advocating for equitable healthcare access, fighting stigma, and breaking down legislative failures.
-
Mental Health & Harm Reduction – Addressing the intersections of trauma, substance use, and policy-driven health disparities.
-
Public Health Storytelling – Making policy understandable and actionable, ensuring the real-world impact isn’t lost in the jargon.
-
Substance Use & Wellness – Pushing for harm reduction, decriminalization, and access to evidence-based care.
At the core of my work is the belief that stories shape policy—and policy shapes lives. I blend lived experience, sharp analysis, and unfiltered storytelling to advocate for a more just and equitable healthcare system.
